You need to visit the EPFO member portal. You must have a 12-digit (Universal Account Number) to log on to the EPFO member balance portal. You can find the UAN number on your payslips.

How to Check the EPF Balance Online?

On the EPF Portal

Log into the EPF account to check your PF balance. Visit the official website of the EPFO or Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) and follow the steps given below.

1. Visit www.epfindia.gov.in

2. Go to ‘ Our Service’ section and click “For Employees” option from the drop-down menu

4. You will be redirected to https://bit.ly/3a14Nt3

5. Once again click on ‘For Employees’

6. Select Member Passbook from the service menu.

7. You will be on the login page for your passbook.

  1. Enter UAN and password to sign in.
  2. You will get the Member IDs of all the EPF linked accounts with your UAN.
  3. Click on the member ID of the EPF account for which you want to view the passbook.
  4. The passbook will open on the screen.

While checking the EPF balance online, keep the following points in mind:

  • You need to activate the UAN number and you should be registered on the UAN Member section to access this section of the EPFO portal.
  • When you make changes, they will reflect within 6 hours of the modification.
  • The passbook maintains the records of the latest entries reconciled by the EPFO field offices.
  • Exempted members and someone with incorrect accounts can’t view the passbook on the EPFO website. Your account will not be operative if you have not contributed towards your EPF account in the last three years or more.

EPFO has also launched the Umang App which is a single-click way to view all EPFO account related information.

  • Download the Umang App from the Google Play Store or App Store.
  • You can use the Umang app at anytime to access the EPFO account from anywhere.
  • You can use the Umang app to view your EPF balance online and download the passbook.

How to check EPF balance online using the Umang App?

  1. Now open the app and select EPFO.
  2. Click the Employee Centric Services
  3. Click on the ‘View Passbook’ option to check your EPF balance.
  4. Enter your UAN ID and then click on the Get OTP. You will be sent an OTP on your registered mobile number.
  5. Enter the OTP and click on the login.
  6. Select the member ID of your company which you want to access the EPF balance for.
  7. The complete information will open on your mobile screen.
